Milton Friedman’s influence reassessed

IIMR 2018 Public Lecture: By James Forder (Oxford University).

James Forder is Andrew Graham Fellow and Tutor in Political Economy at Balliol College, Oxford where he has taught for more than 20 years. He is author of Macroeconomics and the Phillips curve myth, OUP 2014. It argues that the history of economists’ understanding of the relation of inflation and unemployment, including the role of Milton Friedman in that history, has been entirely misunderstood and what is commonly believed and frequently repeated is nothing better than fiction. He has also written on central bank independence, European integration, and voting systems, and is currently working on a new title, Milton Friedman, to be published in 2019 by Palgrave.
